Traded for Bats!

June 3, 2008

Professional baseball players get traded from team to team quite often.

Typically a team tries to fill a need without creating a void for itself in the process.  Sometimes a player is traded for cash, other players or the infamous “player to be named later.”

In what has to be a first, minor leaguer John Odom has been traded from the Calgary Vipers to the Laredo Broncos for some bats.  Ten maple bats.  These are good bats, retailing for nearly $70.

That’s a bit more than my baseball team pays at Big League Dugout for our wood bats.  Although, based on the skill level of my squad, we may go through a few more bats than the Vipers.

We’ll find out every Wednesday night at Victory Lane during our inaugural wood-bat league.
