Digital Promotion = Television Premiere

It was reported this week that popular web-comedy “In the Motherhood” has impressed enough folks online to get the green light for a prime time television debut.

The online program stars Chelsea Handler, Jenny McCarthy and Leah Remini, but the TV version is said to have a couple changes up its sleeves – like subbing comedy heavyweights Megan Mullaly and Cheryl Hines for McCarthy and Remini.

With this successfully promoted online series being given the official Hollywood treatment and with other online programs such as Dr. Horrible’s Sing-a-Long Blog getting A-list sitcomers such as Neil Patrick Harris as well as five-page spreads and on-going online coverage in Entertainment Weekly, is it safe to say this is a new form of promotion for non-studio creative minds to get a little attention?
