If you turned on your TV last weekend, you probably saw Olympic icon Michael Phelps on the MTV Video Music Awards introducing his “favorite rapper” Lil’ Wayne. If you went to the grocery store, you probably saw Michael Phelps face on a Kellogg’s cereal box and on Sports Illustrated‘s cover. If you turn on the TV this weekend, you will catch Michael Phelps hosting the season premiere of Saturday Night Live. If you have HBO, you will see Michael Phelps on Entourage. And if she has her way, you will see Michael Phelps on Oprah.

I am interested in getting everyone’s opinions – is Mr. Olympics doomed for overexposure and eventual D-list bookings such as “Dancing with the Stars?” Or, is there a bigger marketing picture in mind for him, as has been reported in the media amidst about another million stories of him…and his mom.
