Counselors Academy Spring Conference

June 1, 2009

Blog PhotoThe 2009 Spring Conference for Counselors Academy is off to a fabulous start.  Sunday’s keynote speaker, Steve McKee, author of When Growth Stalls, set the tone for the conference.  Themed “Your Business Matters – Maximizing Profits, People and Potential,” the conference agenda is jam-packed with presentations from some of the best in the public relations industry.

Steve’s top reasons for why growth stalls:

  • Lack of Consensus: Steve says without addressing internal issues and inconsistencies within a company’s staff, there is no way to move away from stalled growth.
  • Loss of Focus: You know the old saying “Jack of all trades, master of none?” If you don’t find your company’s focus, growth will stall.
  • Loss of Nerve: “If you decide to not react to issues at hand, whether it is competition or loss of a hold on your industry, your business will stop. Don’t become numb to your problems.”
  • Lack of Consistency: Without consistency people will never know who you are or what you stand for.

Some excellent advice no matter what kind of business you’re in.

Today we’ll participate in breakout sessions on managing people and profits, what it takes to be resilient and using professional development to drive revenue.

The general session speaker is Robert Stephens, founder and chief inspector of The Geek Squad. He will address how entrepreneurs with the right message and a strong brand can create “buzz” and publicity on a shoestring budget.

 Sounds like a great day!
